Fam, this one is personal. Like, I started recording this episode three or four times before I could even get through it — that's how deep this one goes. And when I finally sat down and let it flow, I realized this conversation has been building inside me for time. So here we are NOW. And I need you to pull up a chair.
Every structure you've ever seen standing tall has one thing holding it together underneath — the foundation. And a lot of us in our families, our friendships, our circles — WE are that foundation. We're the ones everybody builds on. The ones who show up when called, loan when asked, listen when needed, and pour out endlessly so everyone else can stand tall. But here's the question nobody's asking — what happens to the foundation when it starts to crack?
On this Corner Connection, I'm getting completely honest about the hidden cost of being everyone's go-to. From my high school coach redirecting my recruiting opportunities to help other students because he knew I'd "be okay," to friends who will send you every podcast on the planet except yours — I'm laying it all out. I'm talking about the quiet exhaustion of always being strong. The sting of showing up for people who don't show up for you. The slow drain of giving your best to people who assume your best will always just be there. And I'm checking myself too — because I've had gaps. I've been the person who didn't realize someone needed me. This conversation goes both ways, fam.
A wall is only as strong as its foundation. And if nobody is pouring back into YOU — eventually something gives. This episode is my way of pouring into every strong one out there who needed somebody to finally say — I see you. I hear you. And your cup deserves to be filled too.
Tap in. Share this with the foundation in your life — the person who holds everything together and never complains about it. Let them know they are seen. Let's pour into each other the way we were built to. That's what Cousin Ed's Corner is all about. 👑💪🏾
