Today's episode almost didn't make it to you, fam — and I mean that literally. I sat down to record my Wind Down Wednesday, and before I could even press record, a Google photo memory popped up on my phone and stopped me cold. It was a picture from the day our family buried my loved-aunt — my mother's sister, my other aunt's twin. And just like that, the whole show changed direction.
This Corner Connect, I'm talking about what it looks like when grief and joy share the same room. I'm talking about seeing family I haven't hugged in years and remembering what it felt like when the whole family used to fill my great-grandmother's house with laughter. And I'm talking about watching my mother and my aunt — the last two standing of my grandmother's children — still trying to find their smile on one of the hardest days.
But more than anything, this episode is a call to action — for me and for you. I had to check myself. I talk about connection. But I had to get real and admit: I can do better. We can do better. Because I don't want the next time somebody sees me to be in a box. I want us to celebrate each other while we're still standing, still breathing, still here together.
Come tap in, fam. Let this one sit with you. And after you listen, call somebody you love. Not tomorrow — today. That's what Cousin Ed's Corner is all about.
