On today's episode, we're talking about personal growth. This conversation was inspired by my daughter's recently achieving her Personal Record (PR) in both of her events this weekend track meet. it got me thinking about how we can all apply this mindset to our everyday lives and how these personal victories add up and create momentum in our lives.
What struck me most this weekend was how my daughter wasn't measuring herself against the kids who've been doing track for years. Instead, she was competing with herself, pushing to beat her own previous best. And isn't that what life is all about? Setting your own goals, tracking your own progress, and celebrating when you surpass what you thought was possible – that's the recipe for continuous improvement and success.
See my daughter achieve her PR reminded, the key is knowing where you're starting from and having a clear goal of what you want to beat. You don't need to worry about what anyone else is doing – just focus on being better than you were yesterday. That's what I'm challenging each and every one of you to do in your own lives. Remember, there's nothing more satisfying than knowing you've outdone yourself!
Tune in now:
Let's talk about setting and smashing those personal records together. As always, I appreciate you being part of this journey – make sure to like, follow, and share the show, or leave a comment at CousinsEdCorner.com. Your boy Cousin Ed loves each and every one of you, and there's nothing you can do about it. Peace!

Wednesday Apr 02, 2025

In this episode, I use the spring season as our perfect metaphor – just like you unwind a spring, now's the time for us to unravel after that intense first quarter hustle. I'm talking about seeing the rewards bloom from all those seeds you planted in Q1, whether that's in your career, relationships, or personal growth. But remember, while it's time to enjoy those blooms, we've still got two more quarters ahead, so we need to be strategic about how we unwind.

They're coming, but Q1 has prepared you with the tools to handle them with grace. Monday Mar 31, 2025
In today's episode, I share something that truly touched my heart - a video of a father helping his son who uses a mobility aid learn to navigate up a curb. What struck me most was the son's powerful mantra: "Curbs Don't Move. by Bubba_CashMan13" This simple phrase carries such profound wisdom for all of us facing life's challenges.
I reflect on how many of us have the luxury to avoid obstacles or try again later - we can turn off the video game, put down the puzzle, or find another route. But for many people, like this young man, there is no choice but to face challenges head-on. The curbs in life don't move just because we wish they would. We have to find our way over them, around them, or through them.
This episode is all about finding that fighter spirit within ourselves. I share my own story of learning to ride a bike and the persistence it took to finally stay upright. I encourage you to think about the "CURBS" in your own life and approach them with the same determination this young man showed. Remember, our Heavenly Father is there to guide us, but the strength to overcome must come from within.

In this episode, I dive deep into something that's been weighing on my heart lately - how many of us have become like the Tin Man from The Wiz, unable to feel while we're busy taking care of everyone else. After some intense conversations with a friend who was locked in his own metal casing of responsibilities, I realized how many of us are silently rusting from the inside out.
I share a powerful question that caught my attention from our good friend of the show, Santia Bailey of Petals and Stem Spa: "Are You Taking Care of Everyone... Except Yourself??" This thought-provoking question really brought an important topic to the forefront. We explore why responsibilities like caring for family, working hard, and supporting others don't feel like "burdens" even when they're overwhelming us. I open up about my own struggles with balance and share practical ways we can create safe spaces to express ourselves before we reach our breaking point. Santia's timely reminder couldn't have come at a better moment, as it perfectly connected with conversations I'd been having and observations I'd been making in my own life and the lives of those around me.
Throughout the episode, I keep returning to that haunting question - "What would I do if I could feel?" - because too many of us, especially men, have forgotten how to oil our emotional joints. We're afraid of judgment, afraid of being seen as weak, afraid of being human. But here's the truth: unlike the Tin Man who had to search for a heart, we already have one - we've just wrapped it in layers of tin to protect it. This episode is about finding your oil can and remembering what it's like to move freely in a world that often asks us to remain rigid and strong at all costs.

Motivational Monday - Embracing the Best Version of You
Monday Mar 24, 2025
Monday Mar 24, 2025
In this episode, I want to talk about something that’s been on my mind: the importance of striving to be the best rather than just being the first. We often hear about trailblazers and pioneers, but what does it really mean to be remembered for excellence?
Join me as I reflect on a recent discussion I heard about the significance of being the first in various fields, especially in relation to race and gender. While I celebrate those who break barriers, I also want to emphasize that it’s crucial to aim for greatness in whatever we do. I’ll share some personal stories about my family and my experiences in sports that illustrate why it’s essential to represent ourselves and our loved ones with pride and excellence.
This episode isn't just talk—it's about pushing ourselves to excellence in everything we touch. Whether you're a doctor, mechanic, artist, or parent, I'm challenging you to leave nothing on the table. Don't let anyone ever look back at your life and talk about what "Could Have Been." Instead, let's be so excellent that people say, "I wish I could do that like you do!"
Tune In Now:
This is motivation for the entire week, not just Monday. Let's strive for excellence together! Let’s explore this together and inspire one another to reach new heights. I want to hear from you, so don’t hesitate to share your thoughts and experiences with me.

Friday Mar 21, 2025
In this episode, I'm challenging all of us to rethink what TGIF really means. It's not just "Thank God It's Friday" – it's "Thank God For EVERYTHING"! I'm talking about thanking Him for every moment, every second, every minute, every hour, every day, every month, every year, and beyond. When we limit our gratitude to just Fridays or just the good times, we're missing the bigger picture of God's constant presence in our lives.
Life can throw us all curveballs, and sometimes we may feel overwhelmed, but it's crucial to remember that every experience shapes us into who we are meant to be. I share a personal experience that I recently had while talking and gaining wisdom from an elderly gentleman who reminded me that it's not just about being "above the green" but about having our right mind and the ability to stand and have conversations. God's goodness goes far beyond what we typically acknowledge!
Tune in Now, as we reflect on the importance of thanking God for every moment we experience, whether joyful or challenging:
Throughout this episode, I offer prayers for those facing illness, for family members serving as caregivers, for our children of all ages, for safety outside our homes, and for peace in our workplaces. I describe how God surrounds us completely – above us like an umbrella, in front guiding our path through life's maze, behind us cleaning our transgressions, and beneath us as our rock foundation.
Lastly, I want to thank everyone who's supported this show – Mr. Moody, Queen Taralyn Michelle, our producers, fellow podcasters, social media influencers, and YOU. I invite you to engage with this community, share your thoughts, and spread the word about the uplifting messages we are sharing here at Cousin Ed's Corner. Wednesday Mar 19, 2025
In this episode, I’m diving deep into the world of friendships and relationships. Have you ever felt like some friends just don’t value you the way you value them? Well, I had a heartfelt conversation with my daughter about this very topic, and I want to share those insights with you.
We often overlook the small gestures that truly matter in our relationships. I like to think of them as "pitching pennies." These little acts of kindness can mean the world to someone, even if they seem insignificant. But what happens when you realize that some people won’t even pick up a "Painted Penny" for you? It’s a powerful metaphor that I believe can help us evaluate our connections and understand who truly supports us.
Join me as I explore the importance of mutual support, and how we can all be more mindful of the relationships we cherish. I'm getting personal in this one, sharing real examples from my own life and my daughter's experiences. And I'm keeping it real too – acknowledging that we/ I'm human and sometimes fail to pick up those pennies for others as well. But that's the beauty of growth, right? We recognize our blind spots and do better. This episode isn't about judging others or holding grudges; it's about understanding relationship dynamics and reducing stress by knowing which "boxes" to put people in.
So, sit back, relax, and let’s wind down together while we reflect on the value of our connections. Don't forget to follow the show, leave comments wherever you listen, and call or text me at 762-333-2032 with your thoughts. Motivational Monday - Turn Your Worry Into Wonders and Just Do IT
Monday Mar 17, 2025
Monday Mar 17, 2025
In this episode, I'm getting real about something we all struggle with – overthinking. You know how it is when your mind gets caught in that loop of worry and you just can't seem to break free? I explore how we can stop overwhelming ourselves with thoughts and instead focus on what truly matters. I'll share some personal stories and insights that I hope will resonate with you. We all have moments of chaos in our minds, but it's essential to take a step back, breathe, and trust that everything will work out as it should.
I share a powerful conversation I had with a friend who called me out and simply said, "Stop overthinking. Let it shine!" This simple phrase hit me two ways – first, I was overwhelming myself with excessive thinking, and second, I needed to let my message shine without all the mental chaos. I take you through my journey of stepping outside, soaking up some sunshine.
If you're stuck in a moment of worry, chaos, or uncertainty about your next steps, this episode is especially for you. Remember the powerful words from Matthew 6:34 about not worrying about tomorrow. I'll even guide you through some deep breathing exercises and remind you that God has a plan. It's time to stop being overwhelmed and instead let your good works overwhelm others. Financial Freedom Fridays - ft. Tremaine Wills "WAKE-UP CALL for 2025"
Friday Mar 14, 2025
Friday Mar 14, 2025
In today's episode, I had the honor of sitting down with financial powerhouse Tremaine Wills. Let me tell you, this conversation is exactly what our community needs right now as we navigate this crazy start of 2025. This episode is our WAKE-UP CALL to Financial Freedom.
Tremaine shared her incredible journey from braiding hair as a 12-year-old entrepreneur to becoming a respected financial planner with her own agency. What I love most about Tremaine is how she's created a judgment-free zone for our sisters to talk about money, build wealth, and break generational cycles. She dropped some serious knowledge about sinking funds, holiday spending traps, and viewing money as a tool rather than a status symbol. Her book "Write the Vision" is providing a roadmap for financial freedom that's accessible to everyone, not just the ultra-wealthy.
🔥 FIVE MONEY GEMS YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO MISS: 🔥
The Sinking Fund Revolution – The simple strategy that's helping everyday people fund vacations, handle emergencies, and break the paycheck-to-paycheck cycle for good!
Money: Tool, Not Trophy – Why the wealthiest people never worship money (and why this mental shift is your first step to financial freedom)
Vision Before Dollars – The counterintuitive approach that has Tremaine's clients achieving their dream lives with LESS money than they thought they needed
Escape Survival Mode – The subtle signs you're still in financial survival mode (even with a good income) and Tremaine's proven path to abundance thinking

The Corner Connection - Just Wait On GOD
Wednesday Mar 12, 2025
Wednesday Mar 12, 2025
In this episode, I'm opening up about a divine full-circle moment that happened in my career just yesterday – one that mirrors a testimony I saw on TikTok two years ago. Y'all, God works in ways that will leave you SPEECHLESS sometimes!
I break down my journey from feeling stifled at a previous job where leadership changes limited my autonomy, to making the difficult decision to leave, to unexpectedly finding an opportunity with a vendor after a simple congratulatory message. What followed was a path of challenges – including a promised promotion that became a lateral move – but by staying faithful and consistent, I eventually rose to a strategic position. And here's the kicker: my former company is now my client! The very people who once undervalued me now see my worth from the other side of the table.
This testimony isn't just about career transitions – it's about trusting God's timing, staying true to yourself, and understanding that sometimes you have to go through the valley to appreciate the mountaintop. If you've experienced similar full-circle moments in your life, I want to hear from you! Visit www.CousinEdsCorner.com and leave a voicemail sharing your story – because sometimes others need to know they're not alone in their struggle.

In this episode, I share my recent experiences from a family wedding, where I had the chance to reconnect with family members I hadn't seen in a while. It was a reminder of the bonds we share and the love that exists within our families. But I also want to challenge you to think about how often you reach out to your family. Are you waiting for weddings, funerals, or big birthdays to celebrate each other? Let's change that!
I’ll provide you with some practical tips on how to maintain those connections using technology, like text messaging, to make it easier to reach out regularly. I believe that even a simple text can go a long way in showing your family that you care. So, let’s make it a point to connect more often and not just passively engage through social media.

Friday Mar 07, 2025
In today's episode of Cousin Ed's Corner, I opened my heart about something deeply personal - my experience with depression and how my faith guides me through life's challenges. I shared a powerful story from a trip to the Gulf of Mexico that taught me about God's protection even in the scariest moments of our lives.
When my daughter asked me if I ever get depressed, it sparked a conversation about how we all face dark times, but it's our response that matters. I wanted her - and all of you - to understand that God doesn't want us to quit when we're in deep waters. He wants us to fight through, to come up for air, and to use our life jackets (the people and faith that support us) when needed.
Tune In Now:
This episode wasn't just about sharing my story - it's about reminding you that God is always with you, protecting you in ways you may never even notice. I want to encourage you all to keep fighting through life’s challenges. God is always with us, guiding us and providing the strength we need to overcome. So, whether you’re feeling down or just need a reminder of God’s grace, I hope this episode brings you comfort and inspiration.
Whatever you're going through right now, I want you to know that God has something bigger for you on the other side of this struggle. Don't quit, family. Keep swimming.

Wind Down Wednesday - More Than Just Hug 'The Needed Accountability And Love'
Wednesday Mar 05, 2025
Wednesday Mar 05, 2025
In this episode, I'm talking about why we all need people in our lives who will pull up on us and stand in the gap, but who will also be there with open arms. This message is especially important now, as we navigate challenging times in our community and nation. We talk about a powerful video I recently came across of a young man being scolded by an older figure, and it sparked a lot of thoughts about how we can support one another, especially our youth. We're talking about the importance of accountability and love in our communities.
We all know that tough love can be hard to hear, but it's often what we need to grow and become better versions of ourselves. I share my thoughts on mentorship and how vital it is for us to step up and guide the younger generation. It's not just about pointing out mistakes; it's about showing love and support, helping them understand that they are better than their current circumstances.
Throughout this episode, I dive into what I call "retrospect" - that crucial moment after someone checks you, when you need to put your ego aside and really hear what they're saying. I encourage you to embrace constructive criticism and see it as a form of love. We all need those virtual hugs and moments of accountability in our lives.
Tune In Now: https://open.spotify.com/episode/3uVhEwsihXGP08etMsbrfh?si=54403191687a44d8
This one's for everyone who's needed a wake-up call and a hug afterward. It's for the mentors standing in the gap for our youth, and for the young people trying to find their way. I'm giving y'all virtual hugs through your speakers while also keeping it real. Remember fam, we build this community together through your comments, shares, and engagement - so don't be shy about letting me know what you think. No matter how you cut it or slice it, we're all in this together, and I'm right here loving on you through every episode.

Monday Mar 03, 2025
In this episode, we dive deep into the real and authentic conversations that matter to us all. Today, hit different because I recorded it while literally helping clear out a The Sister Shop at Atlantic Station in Atlanta, Georgia, and I want to talk about something that hits home for many of us: the fear of starting over. That moment of transition—seeing dreams packed away—got me thinking deep about what it really means to start over.
Life is full of changes, and sometimes those changes can feel daunting. Whether it’s a career shift, a personal setback, or simply the need to reinvent ourselves, the fear of losing what we have can hold us back. But I’m here to tell you that starting over is not a failure; it’s an opportunity for growth and transformation. I’ll share some personal stories and insights that I hope will resonate with you and inspire you to embrace the journey ahead.
We’ll also explore the importance of resilience and how we can redefine what failure means. I’ll also draw some parallels between gardening and our personal lives, illustrating how nurturing our dreams requires patience, care, and sometimes a little help from others. Remember, just because something ends doesn't mean you failed—everything has its season. The real failure is never getting back up to try again, whether that means trying the same thing differently or something completely new.
Tune In Now:
This episode is especially for those of you standing at crossroads, wondering if the end of one chapter means you've somehow failed at your story. Listen in as I share why resilience isn't about never falling—it's about how we respond when we do. As always, I'm keeping it real with love because that's what family does.
So, sit back, relax, and join me as we dive into this important conversation. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts and experiences, so be sure to share your feedback and let’s keep this dialogue going. In this episode, I dive deep into what makes boycotts and economic actions truly effective. Is it just about not spending for one day, or is there something more powerful we should be building toward? I share my raw, unfiltered thoughts about how we can create lasting change through consistent action rather than symbolic gestures alone. This isn't just about economics—it's about showing our collective power and building something sustainable for future generations.
I discuss the significance of a boycott and how it can serve as a powerful tool for change. I’ll share my thoughts on why it’s essential to support Black-owned businesses and how our collective actions can make a difference. We’ll reflect on historical movements led by great leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, drawing inspiration from their courage and commitment to justice.
Throughout our conversation, I’ll also touch on the importance of spirituality in our lives. It’s easy to get caught up in the chaos of the world, but I believe that connecting with God can provide us with the strength and clarity we need to navigate these times. Let’s take a moment to reflect on our past, embrace our present, and look forward to a brighter future together.

When My Sistah Wins We All Win - Christal Brown 'Stepping Into Your Purpose'

In this episode, I'm absolutely thrilled to share this powerful conversation with the amazing Coach Christal Brown. Coach Christal takes us on her journey from a little girl accidentally dropped off at a ballet class to becoming a professional dancer, choreographer, tenured professor, and now a Vision Coach helping others unlock their true potential. Her story about DIVINE MISTAKES, learning to value herself beyond external validation, and creating a path that honors her authentic self resonated deeply with me.
What struck me most was Coach Christal's insight about our past selves being the "Foot Soldiers" who fought to get us where we are today. Instead of burying or being ashamed of those earlier versions of ourselves, she encourages us to honor them as warriors who made our present possible. Her work with young women through Project Becoming is exactly the kind of initiative that makes a real difference in our community, helping the next generation define success on their own terms.
This conversation is just the beginning – we barely scratched the surface of Coach Christal's wisdom and insights. I'm already planning to have her back to dig deeper into topics around self-confidence, authenticity, and empowering our young sisters. So tune in to hear this uplifting conversation that explores dance, vision, motherhood, and the beautiful journey of becoming your authentic self.

The Corner Connection - Knowing Who You Are: 'WE ARE BLACK HISTORY 24/7/365'
Friday Feb 21, 2025

In today's episode, I'm coming to you straight from the heart, diving deep into a conversation that's not just about Black History Month, but about our eternal legacy of innovation, creativity, and undeniable resilience. This episode is special because we're exploring the incredible achievements and contributions that our people have made – achievements that aren't just confined to February but deserve recognition every single day of the year.
Let me take you on a journey through time as we explore some mind-blowing inventions that came straight from our brilliant minds. From the stoplight keeping you safe on your daily commute to the refrigerator in your kitchen, our influence is woven into the fabric of modern life. These aren't just inventions; they're testaments to our ingenuity and proof of our undeniable impact on global progress.
I'm also breaking down how music has always been our source of strength and empowerment. From the spiritual songs that lifted our ancestors' spirits in the fields to the conscious hip-hop that educates our youth today, music has been our way of preserving history, spreading knowledge, and maintaining our power. I'm challenging all of you to share your favorite Black empowerment songs – those tracks that make you stand a little taller and remind you of your royal heritage.
We're also tackling some hard truths about how our history has been handled. We're discussing why it's crucial to educate ourselves and our children about our true legacy, not just the limited version we get in traditional education. I'm sharing some powerful insights:
Let me share with you some hidden gems from our history – brilliant inventors who changed the world but rarely get their flowers. Like Dr. Patricia Bath, who revolutionized eye surgery with her Laserphaco Probe, making cataract surgery more precise and less invasive. Or Marie Van Brittan Brown, who created the first home security system in 1966, keeping countless families safe today. Then there's Dr. Charles Drew, whose research on blood plasma saved millions of lives and established the first blood banks.
Did you know that Philip Downing invented the street letter box (mailbox) in 1891? Or that John Standard gave us a better refrigerator design in 1891? We've got Alice Parker, who patented a natural gas heating furnace in 1919. And let's talk about Garrett Morgan, who not only invented the traffic signal but also created a smoke hood that became the blueprint for gas masks, saving countless firefighters' lives.
Our brilliance doesn't stop there. Frederick McKinley Jones revolutionized the transportation industry with his mobile refrigeration unit. Alexander Miles made elevators safer with his automatic doors. And Sarah Boone? She improved the ironing board in 1892, making a household task so much easier. Madam C.J. Walker built an empire with her hair care innovations, becoming America's first self-made female millionaire. These are just a few examples of how our people have shaped modern life.
Family, this episode is more than just a history lesson – it's a reminder of who we are and the power we carry within us. I'm calling on each one of you to join this conversation, to share your knowledge, and to help spread these important messages to our youth. Remember, we are the original innovators, the creators, the problem solvers who've shaped this world in countless ways.
